INTRODUCTION
Most African countries are faced with starvation(famine) and extreme poverty due to continued increase of food prices, rapidly growing population, inflation, climate change,
covid 19, conflict in the horn of Africa and political instability. This state of food insecurity has resulted to displacement of families, early pregnancies, forced marriages, drop out of
school, family conflicts, death for both people and livestock. An estimated 149 million people in Africa are facing acute food insecurity and 38 African countries are facing acute
food insecurity. Run Africa was established to assist, supplement, support and ensure that we unlock the regions agricultural potential, empower communities and build resilience
against future shocks. And together lets chart a course towards a future where every individual in sub-Saharan Africa has access to nutritious, safe, affordable laying foundation
for sustainable development.

Organizational Overview
Run Africa is a Christian non-profit relief organization founded in the year 2021 in USA. Registration No: EIN 87-3265998, and website www.runafrica.us.org. It is to ensure each and
every person has access to clean, safe, affordable and balanced diet food, advocating for production policies and practices in local communities of USA and support the feeding
deficiency in most African countries. This is achieved through lobbying, advocating, fund raising for food, trainings and economic empowerment of families from our partners,
affiliate members, sponsors, donors, agencies to help the most vulnerable children overcome poverty and access food.

Problem Statement
Sub-Saharan Africa food insecurity remains a challenge. Despite its vast agricultural potential, the region still faces persistent challenges that threaten the food security and
well-being of millions of people. Challenges such as poverty, climate change, limited access to resources, political instability and conflict, inadequate infrastructure, rapid population growth and urbanization, causes the problem leading to a circle of poverty and deprivation for vulnerable communities. Addressing this issue requires a collaborative and holistic approach that integrates sustainable agricultural practices, climate resilience strategies, equitable access to resources, effective governance, and investment in research and innovation. Run Africa will convene stake holders from all sectors and disciplines, the food security symposium aims catalyse actionable solution that can transform food systems and improve the lives of millions of sub-Saharan Africa.

Objectives

  1.  To ensure stakeholders can collaborate to develop holistic and context-specific solutions to improve food security and promote sustainable development in Sub Saharan Africa.
  2. To explore innovative strategies, foster and ignite meaningful dialogue that will pave the way towards a more food secure future for all people.
  3. Exchange ideas, share best practices and collaborate on strategies and actionable solutions to enhance food security, improve livelihoods and promote sustainable
    development in sub Saharan Africa.

Target Audience
Run Africa targets: Governments officials – representatives from ministries of agriculture, planning, budgeting and finance and health who play a crucial role in policy formulation, resource allocation and regulatory frameworks related to food security. Academia and research institutions – researchers, scholars and experts in fields such as agribusiness, agronomy, environmental science, economics, nutrition etc. contribute knowledge, data and evidence based solutions to food security challenges.

NGOs, civil society organizations and international development agencies working on the ground on food security matter provide technical expertise, funding and implementation support for grass root initiative and capacity building efforts. Moreover, local communities including small holder farmers, marginalized groups are key stake holders in food production, distribution and consumption and the empowerment through education, access to resources and community based initiatives is essential for sustainable solution.

The private sector they drive innovation, investment and market led approaches to improve agricultural productivity, value chains and access to markets. Youth and Women GROUPS, they aid in promoting youth and gender inclusive approaches to agriculture, entrepreneurship and community development. Media and communication professionals
–raising awareness, disseminating information and amplifying vices and stories related to food security issues. By engaging and mobilizing this diverse stakeholder, the symposium will be designed and implemented to address the complex and multi-faceted challenges of food insecurity.
