About Us
Run Africa is a Christian relief organization founded in the year 2021 in USA. It is to lobby, advocate, fund raise, to ensure each and every child has access to balance diet food in the local communities of USA and support the feeding deficiency in most African countries.
Most African countries are faced with starvation, extreme poverty, on going political instability which affect school going children hence need to ensure accessibility, affordability and availability of food to the under 18.
Run Africa partners with communities and affiliate members, sponsors, donors, agencies to help the most vulnerable children overcome poverty and access food. To advocate for policies to those in power and practices so that childrens’ views are taken care.
Our Mission
An estimated 149 million people in Africa are facing acute food insecurity, an increase of 12 million. 38 African countries are facing acute food insecurity. The major causes of the above issues /problems have been as follows:
soaring food prices. inflation around the world because of the Ukraine crisis. climate change leading to drought, terrible floods with devastating consequences, corvid 19, conflict in the horn of Africa.
The above have led to famine, food insecurity, displacement of families, death, drop out from schools, early teenage pregnancies, forced marriage, family conflicts, death of livestock, selling of remaining livestock and many more. It’s because of the above effects that led to the formation of run Africa, a nonprofit making body that could support in dealing with that crisis.
This could be done by running to fundraise for food, clothes, school fees, school uniforms, shelter, economic empowerment of families, sports and other social amenities that affect school going children in diverse conditions like the ones highlighted above.
OUR OBJECTIVES
Run Africa was established to assist, supplement, support, ensure that no child below the age of 18 years sleeps on a hungry stomach. It is to empower, carry out capacity building upon the affected communities to ensure they carry out activities which will bring food on the table. Run Africa will ensure these communities understand the importance of food on our children, how they can participate, involve themselves in activities which will lead to family growth. Therefore our key objectives are;
1. To ensure there is accessibility, affordability and availability of food to children in the identified areas.
2. To empower parents with skills, knowledge, practices which shall enable them support their families in ensuring they access food in the marginalized areas i.e. by practicing farming activities i.e. horticulture, poultry, irrigation, livestock etc.
3. To offer holistic care to children under 18 by ensuring they go to school, have shelter, clothing, food, medical care and access clean running water.
Our Activities
Capacity Building
Organization of workshops, symposiums, conference, seminars to empower the communities on the importance of food, shelter, education, clothing, accessing clean running water, and general holistic growth.
Identification of all children in need
Children will remain the key component in the Run Africa programs. Most of the focus will remain on children, ensuring that they access balance diet, shelter, clothing, education, and also support the existing families at large.
Income Generating Activities
These activities shall ensure sustainability of Run Africa projects by keeping parents busy and involving themselves in the day today life of their children.
Exchange Programs
Organizing of exchange programs and scholarships for children who do well in studies and also children from the west to come and see practical’s of food insecurity in Africa.
